Service Overview
We've been running this grooving machine in our own shop for about eight months now. It forms sealing grooves on cylindrical cans using a spinning roller. Nothing fancy.
Rotation speed is set between 300 and 600 RPM depending on the can size. Took us a few weeks to figure out the right speed for each format. Groove depth holds at ±0.03 mm. Width at ±0.02 mm. Those numbers come from actual production runs, not just spec sheets.
The force monitoring runs at 100 Hz. We added that after noticing that can thickness varies by up to ±0.015 mm from some suppliers. The system compensates automatically.
Sealing failure rate? Below 0.1% in our records. Laser welding yield after grooving is above 99.5%. That's based on about 50,000 cans we tracked last quarter.
