A micro viscometer is an instrument designed for precise viscosity measurement of very small sample volumes, often as low as a few microliters to milliliters. It is essential in research and development where material is scarce or expensive, such as formulating new battery electrolytes, coating slurries, or pharmaceutical fluids.
Its operation is based on measuring the viscous drag or flow resistance within a micro-scale channel or on a specialized sensor surface (e.g., a vibrating micrometric plate). Key advantages include minimal sample consumption, rapid testing, and high measurement sensitivity for low-viscosity or non-Newtonian fluids. This makes it a critical tool for iterative lab-scale material characterization before scaling up to production.

Equipment installation
1. Selection of Working Environment
(1) The workspace should be kept clean and dry;
(2) The instrument should be kept away from sources of electromagnetic interference;
(3) The instrument must not be used in areas with explosive hazards;
(4) The instrument should not be used for extended periods in environments with high humidity or high dust levels.
2. Equipment Installation
(1) Open the packaging box and instrument storage box, and check and verify all instrument components against the parts list in the appendix of this manual;
(2) The instrument should be installed on a workbench free from corrosive gases, strong electromagnetic interference, and vibration;
(3) Insert the column into the hole in the main unit base. First, use a hex wrench to tighten the bolts on the column (connected to the bottom of the base) to secure the column and prevent it from rotating;
(4) Rotate the lifting handwheel to move it up and down. If the lifting handwheel feels too tight or too loose when rotating, adjust the tightening screw in front of the lifting base. A slightly tight setting is recommended to prevent the viscometer head from falling due to its own weight;
(5) Connect the horizontal bar of the viscometer head to the horizontal bar interface on the back of the viscometer head, then tighten it with a wrench. Then insert the viscometer head's horizontal bar into the fixing hole, ensuring the head is basically level. Rotate the fixing handwheel to secure it and prevent the head from tilting;
(6) Adjust the leveling screws on the main unit base so that the bubble level on the viscometer head is in the center position;
(7) Loosen and remove the yellow protective cap located below the viscometer head. Select the appropriate rotor and screw it into the rotor connector (turn left to install, turn right to remove);
Note:
① When installing or removing the rotor, operate carefully. Gently lift the connector at the bottom of the instrument before installing or removing the rotor. Do not use excessive force, and do not apply lateral force to the rotor to avoid bending it;
② After installing the rotor, do not "rotate" it without liquid, to avoid damaging the rotor tip and bearings;
③ Before measurement, estimate the viscosity range of the liquid to be measured, and then select the appropriate rotor and rotational speed from the range table. If the approximate viscosity of the liquid cannot be estimated, it should be considered as having a high viscosity. Select rotors from smallest to largest (rotor numbers from highest to lowest) and rotational speeds from slowest to fastest.
(8) Install the rotor protection frame;
(9) Clamp the temperature probe onto the rotor protection frame;
(10) Check if the bubble level on the viscometer head is in the center position. If the instrument is not level, adjust the leveling screws on the main unit base;
(11) Plug the power cord into the power outlet and connect the power to the back of the instrument. The entire unit is now installed.
